Description:
Company is looking for a Systems Administrator to work as part of a team providing systems administration support services at a critical client in the area. You should have experience in a well-run IT organization and apply best practices knowledge in this environment. You will be responsible for supporting approximately 300 systems in one of the many technical research groups in this organization.
Responsibilities include:
Support installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of computer and network equipment
Help to modernize the systems and network architecture to add robustness and redundancy
Day-to-day administration of multiple classified research networks consisting primarily of Cisco routers, and Extreme Summit switches, and Nortel switches. This includes, but is not limited to network monitoring, software installs, troubleshooting problems, and network cabling
Reviewing and testing new hardware and software applications and making recommendations for purchases
Remote administration of off-site R&D systems and networks
Contribute to and lead projects to improve aspects of the computing and network infrastructure such as data storage, back and recovery, network bandwidth and throughput, application robustness and release control
Continue to extend and document monitoring and diagnostic capabilities to reduce time spent on troubleshooting and remediation
Respond to occasional off-hour repair requests during weekday/weekend/evening/night shifts
Occasional periods of extended mission support spanning several days
Must Have Skills: Linux, Solaris, Windows 2003, Cisco Routers and Switches, Nagios
Strong Pluses: SGI operating systems, Perl, Python
MUST be able to go through the process to receive Security Clearance (SECRET)
