Description:
SAN Engineer
SAN Engineer (SE) is responsible for supporting the SAN Architect in the design, documentation, and implementation of the Storage Area Network. These SAN solutions will be developed from a set global storage standards to fit applicable environments such as Enterprise and Remote manned and unmanned Operational Sites. The SE will participate in the evaluation of new hardware standards and process.
The SE should have strong knowledge and skills in using the hardware and software involved in a Storage Networking implementation and have thorough knowledge of operating systems, diagnostic software, and related tools. They should also have knowledge of network design and planning and be able to read and interpret system architectural diagrams.
The SE will support the SAN Architect for directing the day to day SAN implementations and management. Working with other technology teams, the SE will develop appropriate designs, and implement the designs in accordance with the established project timelines.
SE will maintain the storage hardware technology and design documentation to keep the environment at appropriate operating levels. SE will be fluent in storage provisioning functions.
SE will work closely with the SAN Architect and Enterprise Storage Management Storage Architect to develop cohesive storage and data backup solutions to meet the ever changing storage landscape. With the Storage Architect the SE will develop a comprehensive storage architecture that will support:
Block Level Storage
File Level Storage
Storage and SAN Virtualization
Replication
Continuous Data Protection
Encryption
Archiving Solutions
SE will be required to provide 7 x 24 support of storage infrastructure on a rotational basis.
